I honestly am not even sure how this is a question because EVERYTHING OBVIOUSLY. I love my pets. Felix was our first baby. We got him in 2016, two years into marriage from The Animal Rescue League of Boston. He was manic, yowling in his kennel. His tail, ears, and parts of his face were missing fur due to starvation on the streets. When we brought him home, it was not hard to see why; he has zero hunter instinct. He is pathetic, having put all his eggs in the begging basket. He recovered quickly and has been an important part of our family since.
I am going to try to use as few words as possible in this post. I think the pictures of my magnificent beasts speak for themselves.

Navigating a cat and toddler can be a handful. Juniper, our current toddler, is not too gentle with Felix. Theo almost always was. You can see how little instinct Felix has to get away. June will do the same things, except she prefers to put her face right in that kitty belly. So soft and warm. Felix was not too interested in sharing me with Theo, as you can see in this last picture. It’s a pain sometimes parenting children to be gentle when the cat could easily get away, but I’m also thankful for it! Theo has always been a very gentle child, and I think having an older kitty brother helped immensely in parenting him. 😉
OH! And when we first brought Theo home, Felix would THROW UP EVERY TIME HE CRIED. It was… extra dramatic. I went through a period where I kind of resented him honestly. Motherhood was hard and life was hard in those years and Felix was demanding a lot of me too. It wasn’t easy. Anyway, eventually, we got him Vinny. And although Felix hissed and spat and protested, they are frenemies. Or friends. Judge for yourself.

I have dozens more like it.
But wait! There’s more! I didn’t grow up with cats. I actually grew up with birds. One of them, Aletta, passed away this year.

Now, if you don’t see the relationship between spirituality and animals, well then, either check out St. Francis or this just isn’t the place for you. (I’m kidding!)
