I’m an artist, musician, and creative dabbler in many things. Although I primarily teach music in fun, uplifting, and creative ways, my passion lies in helping people embody their own sacred creativity–whatever that means to them. I’m rooted in the Christian Tradition, but comfortable working with any beliefs and faiths that do not deny the humanity and belovedness of another group of people. I take my contemplative practice into the work I do with children learning music, into my parenting, and into my day-to-day. Although I don’t believe in evangelizing the way it’s traditionally thought of (you may study with me and never know what I believe), I hope to make my approach in how I set up the learning space one that is open, inviting, loving, and supportive.

Practically speaking, this may look like an art retreat where we explore themes related to the spiritual path: life, death, resurrection, joy, grief, gratitude, growth. This may look like consulting on or participating in a religious service or ritual, programming, or any type of outreach. This may look like personal or small group meetings to explore how the Spirit is calling you into fuller participation of its creative acts. It may look like piano lessons! Everything is sacred, and I would be honored to walk alongside you in searching out the sacred in your own creativity.

I believe we are all creative by birthright, and that in exploring that creativity we can open ourselves up to fuller relationships in every part of our lives: with ourselves, our fellow humans, nature, the Divine, however you interpret that. Humans have historically prioritized certain kinds of art as ‘high’ or ‘skilled’ and other art as ‘low’ or unskilled. I don’t believe in such distinctions in music or visual arts/crafts: all is welcome and needed in the tapestry of human expression.

I hope this space invites you into your own explorations and creations, however you feel led. You are actually an artist.

Thanks for stopping by!
