What animals make the best/worst pets?

Best:

  • Any animal you can properly care for. Including, but not limited to:
    • Physical needs (food, space)
      • Vet visits and proper medications
      • Sterilization procedures
    • Emotional needs (space, contact/company)
  • That’s it.

Worst:

  • Pets you cannot care for
    • Physical needs cannot be met
      • Needs more space to run/be wild
      • Specialty diets
      • Comfortable lodgings
    • Emotional needs cannot be met
      • Needs its own wild territory
      • You’re too busy for adequate attention
        • This includes for dogs and cats! They need attention, too!
      • Stimulating toys are unavailable/too expensive
        • Letting your pet be bored will kill it young
      • Your presence is distressing to the creature
        • Maybe it really needs to be left in the wild

Puts up soapbox, have a good day, folks.

My cat, Felix, clearly prefers the auto-warming stereo to any of his many cat beds in the house. It has the added advantage of being out of reach of the toddler, and still in a central location so he can be near us. This was caught in a particularly deep sleep moment of his.
